Analyst Review

Was given great information of the company and the group functions aspect I applied for.

Was appreciated for the commitment and work I had contributed to. I was felt a part of the team from day one as everyone was welcoming and very sociable.

We were given a detailed timetable ( although the interview was left to as a surprise). We were given in depth job shadowing with three of the five sections of group functions, and were given many presentations of different sections of RBS Group and Economics.

For someone doing a mathematics and economics degree, this for me was very useful as it showed how much of my degree would be useful in such a sector of a firm. It showed any extra qualifications I may need to work or progress in a particular sector of Group.

Timings given on the first day were accurate, however there were long time lags between some of the activities ( 2 hours doing nothing). The job shadowing was at different locations and travelling would take time as no directions were provided and there was about half and hour to one hour of gap between the shadowing.

It was great. All other participants were very sociable and everyone seemed to understand each other of not knowing anyone there and being very supportive. There were many activities which allowed people to get to know each other, however the time lags made it slightly boring.

They provided us with a chance to show a presentations and allowing us to work in teams as well as prepare for an interview. These were the main things that could have developed us. Moreover the travelling between job shadows and the network drinking was another change to develop confidence. But there was not a precise skills developing session, mainly as this was a week of insight not internship.

The job shadowing was the most accurate of showing how working here in full time would be. Going into presentations, working on files/ documents and projects showed how one would go about a daily routine at RBS. Moreover, talking to the graduates gave a more personal/ informal chance to understand how a full time work at RBS would be.

Give an early presentation of what RBS believes in and its culture clearly helped us understand the company culture.

The day began at 8.30 which for me is quiet early having to commute to the locations, which made me thin whether such career path in banking would be good. However the content and learning opportunities in RBS showed variety and change which for me what most attracting.

Networking drinks on first and last day where members of RBS came and socialised as well as graduates.

On the first day it was a bit quiet and unsociable as people didn't know each other, however by the last day everyone had more confidence and socialised well. But naming it networking drinks put off people , making it sound more formal, were in fact it was very informal.

Not really. The staff seemed to be more work absorbed there and didn't have many family commitments.

Great experience, and head start to a summer internship.
