The Role
many different types of jobs, teaching, training, writing examples etc - great fun. Doing SR's got tiresome towards the end (however a lot of SR's were interested and made you learn)
generally a great atmosphere, the managers (including the MD) sit in the same booths as the interns so you felt equal, i felt this inspired me to work harder
Always someone available to help, the atmosphere helped to make you feel you could ask anyone for help/support/guidance
Loved having a full work load, increased my time management skills. When the projects were on we were working late nights, early mornings and weekends. For the amount I learned technically and non technically during the projects its was totally worth it
Although the Team Leads go through your emails with customers we are still "running the show" with SR's. Overall I felt if you could prove yourself that you were responsible in front of customers you were given the freedom to do more, I was and I did so this was one of the best bits about the placement for me.
I feel like I have grown up both technically and non technically during the placement. I didn't feel like an intern at all.
The Company
90% of the time the atmosphere was grand, there are always stressful times hence not a 10/10.
Can't fault here. The ow-nus is left on the intern a little but that's the way it should be. The organisation of the training for the first 2 months was faultless
2 months of solid training to get you started! From then on it was what you wanted to get out of the placement was as much as you were going to learn. Which I really liked!
There are not really any opportunities to go into electronic/software design. If I were to go into sales there are relatively good opportunities. To be honest if you were to go into sales, the money is not great at NI
The Culture
Lots of interns, lots of young grads, very good socially
It's the south of England and not in London. It's fine. Tesco is Tesco wherever you go...
Reading/London is not far away
Some good fun events set up by work.
