The Role
The placement structure is great. We got to spend 6 months in two separate departments which broadens your skill set.
The teams intergrated us straight away into the teams and we were treated as colleagues rather than IP's.
The managers were always on hand to answer any queries and always made time to help.
I had a lot of responsibilty and work, but employees were understanding when I had a lot on and I felt comfortable saying no to too much work.
A lot of responsibility was given to the Industrial Placement students which was great to be treated as a proper valued colleague.
I have learnt a lot and the company gave me skills which will really help my CV. They also paid for a HR related training course- SHL Level A which is a great qualification to have. It has helped me in my module choices, and understanding how theories are used at work.
The Company
The atmosphere is really friendly. Although it is a corporate company, all the managers are helpful and make time to learn more about you.
THe set up of two 6 month placements is really good as it allows students to gain a broader skill set. The organisation is good and you have appraisals at the end of each placement so that managers can tell you how you have performed.
The company paid for an SHL Level a training course which is a massive bonus and also put all the IP's on 4 module training sessions to learn about how to present and understand what skills are needed at work which has been very valuable.

The future prospects are dependant on budget and your own performance, and the budget isn't confirmed until the following March, so this leaves IP's unsure on whether they have got on the graduiate scheme, but if the opportunity arose I would take it.
The Culture
I met some really nice people on the placement scheme, and Coventry is so close to Birmingham which is a great night out. Work organise IP events so we all get the chance to go out together, but we tend to organise things our self.
Compared to Surrey, I found Coventry very cheap. My rent was only £325 a montt and nights out were very cheap as well. When you get paid nearly 17k for teh year from work, I have been able to save a lot.
The nightlife in Coventry is good and cheap, but there aren't lots of places to go. Being near Birmingham helps for nights out and shopping.
They have the annual Christmas Ball which is great fun, and the HR team organise various IP events throughout the year for us to take part in. There are also work events like 'pub quiz' and 'race night' which are a good laugh as well.
