The Role
The commerial placement was a hugely varied role that involved you into some very interesting departments in the company. The fact that you are working in a very fast moving and innovative company in an industry that is constantly changing allows for some very interesting and rewarding work
The responsibility of role allows you to become involved in the department to a point where your work can be critical for the success of projects. Your role is integral to the department and other employees treat you like a normal employee rather than 'just a placement student'.
The management team have been excellent in guiding you through the various difficulties tht you face on placement. They are understanding and yet still trust your skillset to deliver the objectives set. Their support has been invaluabale as part of my development.
The workload is hugely vaired and very intense. There are plenty of projects on the go to be involved in and it pushes you to manage your time effectively.
Your responsibility is objective orientated you are just short of running the show on most projects as many of the jobs involved are critical and necessary to be completed to a high standard. This allows you to take part in decision making as part of your role and effectively trains you to manage projects both short and long term. Near the end of the placement, you tend to be given more projects and roles that will allow you effectively run the project.
There are a lot of skills learnt at PSA that will be helpful in the future. From time management to developing professional relationships. Being chucked in the deep end allows you to develop these skills.
The Company
There is good atmosphere in the office with a fairly relaxed atmosphere. a rapport with your immediate colleagues is very easy to build. Although this is not the completely case throughout the whole company and more relevant to brand aligned departments.
The HR team are extremely well set up and organised to help you integrate into the comapny seamlessly. There is plenty of communication between the HR team and you before and during the placement to ensure you are comfortable with the placement.
They invest a lot of time and resources into your education at the company. This ensures that you perform at the best you possibly can. The training consultant that is used to train us has been outstanding and incredibly supportive throughout.

They are very appealing with this scheme leading you onto a graduate role if available.
The Culture
Yes, this was more influenced personally and through the placement students that the company. However there were events organised by the company that were good to go to.
Coventry is a reasonale place to live and there are other major cities nearby that provide more options.
Not as good compared to university, however the nightlife has been quite good and the nights out have been pretty memorable.
If you take a personal obejective to do so it becomes quite easy to get involved with activities outiside of work.
