About You
Thoroughly enjoyable experience. The staff could not have been more helpful throughout the day. Wide variety of tasks undertaken!
Given the effort that the organisers had obviously put into the day, it was clear they valued the group of students highly to help to encourage them to continue their relationship with E & Y.
We received guidance regarding the case study exercises and on the future opportunities that are available - i.e. internships, etc.
Skills such as teamwork, presentation, etc will undoubtedly assist me into the future. The information may not have been totally relevant to actuarial science - my degree, but I knew that from the outset.
The Company
Very well structured. There were appropriate breaks and the day seemed to run seamlessly from 8.45 to 5.30 or so.
They successfully got us involved in a range of tasks which were very enjoyable, and the general atmosphere of Ernst & Young was very positive.
They had an earth, fire, water activity to help to determine what kind of person we were. The case study exercise was very beneficial in regards to developing a range of skills.
The case study exercise was similar to an activity in which the employees would be engaged in, although it might have been useful to have been given a tour of the office.
It became apparent that Ernst & Young employ individuals based on their personal attributes as opposed to suitability to a particular job, and this is what has enabled them to build such a capable set of employees.
It has definitely made me consider the corporate finance area of Ernst & Young, although it may have been useful to learn more about the actuarial functions.
Everything Else
Up to £100.
We had 'facilitators' throughout the day to which one could answer a wide range of questions. We were also given the opportunity to network with other employees over lunch.
Able to network with a wide range of employees over lunch, most seemed to be recent graduates who have just joined.
I believe what employee did talk about a football team, and that there was generally a wide range of opportunities. They possible could've spent more time reviewing this area.
Extremely worthwhile - both in the sense of learning about the business and their main service lines, and also the opportunity to develop skills based on activities and the feedback that was given.
