About You
So friendly! Felt really included and welcomed from day 1.
Whenever I asked for help, it was happily given, and I received feedback on the tasks I completed
The Company
Quite loosely structured- although not a negative thing! Spent the week as you would in a real office, being given tasks when they were available, and getting on with your own project inbetween.
Again, everyone is very friendly and helpful! I went out for lunch twice and also for drinks with the department and entire office!
There was no specific training, but I was given clear instructions for each task and given feedback on completion which helped me to improve and develop.
Being given actual work to do and just fitting in with the usual routine of the office was really helpful in showing me what a full time role would be like with the company. I was also hosted by a Trainee Solicitor so I could see closely what her full time role was like also.
I was assigned a mini-project to create a newsletter, and part of the market research was around the culture of the firm. The newsletter was really helpful in understanding the company culture.
Week*. But very helpful. I have decided that I definitely want to pursue a career in law after enjoying my week so much!
Everything Else
I was paid £250 for the week, and given the option to claim back my travel expenses.
I went to play netball with the firm's team on one evening, and went to a drinks reception with the department I was placed in and the rest of the firm also. Both of these opportunities were great for networking and meeting other employees.
I really enjoyed them, but felt that there could have been an alternative thing for people to get involved in as well as Netball- as I am not particularly good at Netball, nor do I understand the rules!
YES. Huuuuge amounts of charity work, volunteering, baking competitions and sports teams!
The week really helped me to see what I would be doing day to day if I pursued a career in Law at this firm. I absolutely loved it, felt welcome and got my hands on some very interesting work!
