The Role
Brilliant year, brilliant people. Not so much a scheme - more of a job but got some invaluable experience.
The Marketing department at Waitrose are so friendly and supportive.
Things got extremely busy in peaks throughout the year which did was stressful - but came with some great responsibility.
A lot of responsibility - had a £10k a month Competitions budget to manage, and had areas of my role that only I had the skills to implement.
I now know what I want to do once I have graduated - something I would still have no idea about if I hadn't taken a placement year.
The Company
Fairly relaxed, quiet atmosphere.
From a starting perspective it was set up very well - all the IT was sorted when I arrived but overall it was a job in a team and I expected more of a development scheme.
A few development days throughout the year that we're fairly helpful, but no real push for us to return to Waitrose or the Partnership.
Subsidised Canteen
Sports and Social Club
Subsidised/Company Gym
Financial Bonus
Company Parties/Events
Working from home
Roles are appealing - but as placement students with the company we are given no advantage in gaining a role with them against other non-Waitrose students.
The Culture
Lived in Reading uni area, Bar Crawls we're organised for placement students across lots of companies, very social.
£300 a month rent - very reasonable.
We went Sailing, helped at big Charity events, went to the o2 in the Partnership Box, subsidised skiing at Hemel indoor slopes - lot's to get involved in if you want to.
