About You
Was very enjoyable and got to do lots of interesting and real work.
Given genuine work and felt like part of the team. All staff were supportive and welcoming.
Given lots of guidance, but also left to work things out for myself when appropriate.
Learnt lots of new skills and how to translate theoretical university learning into practical work.
The Company
Well structured with a clear plan of what was happening when.
Very friendly and relaxed, yet hardworking.
Staff went out of their way to help me and enhance my experience.
Got a genuine insight into daily life at Shoosmiths.
Really felt like I got to know the firm, enhanced by my project for the week which involved lots of research on Shoosmiths.
I only sat in one seat, so did not get a chance to compare it to other departments in the firm, but it confirmed my desire to be a solicitor.
Everything Else
I was paid £250 + petrol costs
I went to a meeting with the charity committee and a charity lunch all the staff were invited to, so got some chance for networking there. Other than that, I mainly associated with people in my department.
I went out for lunch with some of the trainees one day and the charity lunch for all staff allowed some networking.
Heard about drinks every friday after work, but little else seems structured in terms of outside of work involvement.
Yes, thoroughly enjoyable and learnt a lot.
