The Role
Great autonomy and was really respected as a part of the team!
My opinion always counted and was given the opportunity to have my voice heard in all of the right channels.
I had a one-to-one with my manager every two weeks, and additional coaching or training was given when required. This included job related training and also personal development.
I was definitely kept busy during the year! At times - particularly within IT sector - it is easy to have a dramatically increased workload due to the cyclical nature of the industry. You really are given the power to manage your workload, though, and if you stay on top of it - you can achieve balance.
Some elements were support based; but others were my initiatives entirely. In addition, I was given responsibility to stand in for my manager during holiday periods, etc.
Time management and being critical of what's needed versus what's nice to have are two key skills that I will take away from HP and reapply for the rest of my life.
The Company
Office is very modern and open plan. Work ethic of HP is very dynamic and focussed - so as long as you can adopt to this mindset; the environment is very easy to get used to.
The internships in my team were well structured and our responsibilities were clearly defined. However - in HP - some variance does exist and the overall internship program is not as established as other large players. Advice would be to research the particular job you're going for as some of them are great; others not so great!
I was always granted time to learn a new skill before being expected to be a master of it. HP have a great on-demand training platform that I definitely utilised whilst there.

I developed a good network of contacts that I will definitely stay in contact with as time progresses.
The Culture
~60 interns in the Bracknell office - great atmosphere!
Reading is not the cheapest place to live and commuting costs need to be taken into consideration.
Reading is great and only 29 minutes to central London!
Quite a large variety of intern events and various worker committees.
