The Role
It was something new, and I'm glad I took the plunge.
I felt trusted and was given more responsibility more quickly than I had predicted.
I was guided through good advice when appropriate to keep myself on target.
Things could get fairly busy at times, however for the most part the balance was just right. There was certainly never a dull moment.
It was my job to interact and build a rapport with clients, which I started doing on my first day.
The communication aspect will be particularly useful in jobs to come.
The Company
I knew what I was supposed to be doing at all times, and was overseen well.
While I would not want to work for the company as it is too far outside my area of interest, I valued my time there and made the most of the opportunity to try something new.
The Culture
There were regular opportunities and we did have group nights out after work on several days.
Living was reasonably expensive due to the proximity to the city centre, however I was able to bag some great discounts through going out during happy hours and weekday nights.
The nightlife is great in Birmingham - particularly along Broad Street. There are a diverse range of clubs and bars to cater for most things we wanted to do.
I was not given the opportunity, so I organised a couple of events myself, which proved to be surprisingly popular.
