About You
Really good fun. A lot of interesting activities - I wouldn't have minded it lasting a little longer!
HR were lovely and the employees were really interested in what we had to say and were enthusiastic about sharing their experiences whilst encouraging us to develop our careers
We did a range of group activities and also had some tasks to do in the evening individually.
We learnt how to network (sounds easy!) but we learnt body language and how to approach certain groups of people. We also learn how to read the financial times and look at the information most relevant to our industry (notably the Lex column!)
The Company
Very well structured. There was a lot to do and we were constantly kept busy.
At times you forgot we were in a corporate environment as everybody was relaxed and enjoying themselves. It really drew me to the culture of the bank.
We had external speakers to CFOs come in to talk to us. It was well thought out and very beneficial to us.
We had specific sectiosn of the day allocated to the different job roles where we learnt more about what was involved and the skills required.
A lot - i got to see how dedicated the employees were and how much of a family HSBC was by the fact that they took time out to talk to us and encourage us to get involved with the firm.
Very valuable, the HR team even took time out to talk to me about progression and opportunities available within the firm.
Everything Else
Food (Dinner) and Travel were paid for. For non-London residents a hotel was provided for the duration of the insight.
Plenty of opportunities ranging from informal drinks, buffet lunches to a formal dinner. Considering we only had a three day intern ship I got to meet a diverse range of employees from across the firm.
Very enjoyable particularly because I could utilise my knowledge of how to effectively network with others (covered in the session on the first day). I gained many useful insights and business contacts as a result!
I wish I had the opportunity to find out more about this alongside finding out what opportunities/groups HSBC offers outside of work.
Definitely. It is great fun and made me realised how interesting, dynamic and innovative HSBC is as a firm.
