The Role
You get given a lot of responsability from day one which can be daunting but is extremelly helpful in terms of your professional development in the long run. There are great socials and networking opportunities within the firm and with external clients.
The firm has very welcoming employees; people are very approachable, always happy to help, always willing to socialise outside of work. After a few months, you no longer feel like a placement student and truly become a member of the team with important responsabilities; it is nice to feel trsuted with important work.
The management is very approachable and will spend the time to sit down and run you through things. My managers have always been able to answer any questions I've had about the case.
There are some quiet periods but there are also very busy periods (7am starts and 11pm finishes). In general, very regular 8:45am start and 5:45pm finish
A lot more than expected, which is unique and truly helps you develop as a professional and learn very quickly.
Although my degree is not related to my placement, I've learned so many life and professional skills that will help me in my final year of university and in the beginning of my career. Speaking to cleints, preparing for meetings, commitment and organisation skills.
The Company
Very positive.
As soon as you get past the first month of your placement, you get treated as a Grad so everything is very structured.
A lot of very interesting and helpful half-day, day and overnight courses both in London and other locations across the UK.

The Culture
The graduates (undergoing ACA training), placement students and newly qualified ACA professional got along really well. Everyone worked hard in the office but was always happy to socialise and have a good time together outside of work too,
It's London, no matter what placement you get, London costs a lot! But it's worth it.
Again, it's London!
Football with clients, team social, Firm-wide christmas party, National Grant Thornton Annual Football tournament in Manchester and casual after-work drinks on a weekly basis.
