The Role
Great year. Insightful, exciting and challenging.
Seamlessly became an integrated member of the team, rarely felt like a placement student.
Constant emphasis on personal development.
Nature of project work means you experience both ends of the spectrum. You can be insanely busy or extremely quiet.
You are constantly expected to be a self-starter, be that on leading projects or sourcing new work.
I would recommend a placement year to anybody capable of doing one in a heart beat!
The Company
The general office atmosphere was friendly and dynamic.
The London intake is relatively small compared to other large accounting firms therefore a placement 'community' doesn't really exist. This, however, is offset by the graduate and junior executive events.
The firm has a training manor located in Bradenham, Buckinghamshire where I attended four over night training events, from Lead Advisory Skills to Insolvency Basics. I also attended a number of in house training sessions provided by internal and external trainers, subjects included: pensions, debt advisory, tax, etc.

Placement students are fast tracked to a final interview/chat with an Audit partner for entry on to the graduate program post your final year of university.
The Culture
There are plenty of social events, informal post-work beers and numerous sports teams to get involved with.
It's London, it's expensive. The GT salary means you won't have to live too frugally but nights out can get pretty expensive...
Finsbury Square is on the northern edge of the City. You have Shoreditch on your northern doorstep and the City and London Bridge on the South. Furthermore, you're always a short tube away from anywhere in central London.
From sports clubs and weekends away to debates and industry seminars, the opportunities are endless.
