The Role
I had a great time, varied job and everyone I worked with was helpful.
Within months I felt part of the department and respected.
Adequeant support was there, however you also had the chance to do what you wanted.
Started off a little slow, however by the end I was juggling many jobs which I enjoyed.
Towards the middle of placement I was given great responsibility over a few projects. Support was available from very helpful colleagues.
Extremely beneficial to my engineering knowledge in the real world, since returning to university I can now apply things in lectures to real engineering problems.
The Company
I was in two differnet offices, first was a little quiet, however I moved into an open plan office which was better.
Very well organised, a large number of interns were taken my year. Socials etc were initially organised for us.
I was trained in green belt 6 Sigma. I also participated in many training course both online and with others.
Sports and Social Club
Company Parties/Events
I think the recession has had an effect on their recruitment.
The Culture
Very good social life with other placement students. I made some good friends over my year. Some interdepartmental competitions were also ran (pitch n putt).
Cheap compared with south england, but not the cheapest place to live. Saying that rent was cheap £1000 /month for 5 bedroom house, brand new. Club/bars standard prices. Not much of a student scene.
It was ok, a few clubs in Peterborough but nothing too amazing. Peterborough could be quite rough sometimes however. Lots of good pubs though.
I was involved with Badminton club and often cycling with colleagues . Company owned sport centre was recently sold off however!
