  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • I had a great time, varied job and everyone I worked with was helpful.

  • Within months I felt part of the department and respected.

  • Adequeant support was there, however you also had the chance to do what you wanted.

  • Started off a little slow, however by the end I was juggling many jobs which I enjoyed.

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • Towards the middle of placement I was given great responsibility over a few projects. Support was available from very helpful colleagues.

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • Extremely beneficial to my engineering knowledge in the real world, since returning to university I can now apply things in lectures to real engineering problems.

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • I was in two differnet offices, first was a little quiet, however I moved into an open plan office which was better.

  • Very well organised, a large number of interns were taken my year. Socials etc were initially organised for us.

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • I was trained in green belt 6 Sigma. I also participated in many training course both online and with others.

  • Sports and Social Club

  • I think the recession has had an effect on their recruitment.

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • Very good social life with other placement students. I made some good friends over my year. Some interdepartmental competitions were also ran (pitch n putt).

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • Cheap compared with south england, but not the cheapest place to live. Saying that rent was cheap £1000 /month for 5 bedroom house, brand new. Club/bars standard prices. Not much of a student scene.

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • It was ok, a few clubs in Peterborough but nothing too amazing. Peterborough could be quite rough sometimes however. Lots of good pubs though.

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • I was involved with Badminton club and often cycling with colleagues . Company owned sport centre was recently sold off however!
