The Role
Loved it. Now strongly considering a career in this industry
My views/suggestions were considered in the same manner as everyone else in the department.
On top of providing us with a clear and concise work plan, our manager would also regularly organise catch-ups to ensure everything was going smoothly.
More often than not had the right balance of work. Very occasionally there would be too much/little work but that is only down to the nature of work.
I was the focal point for several processes and completed numerous projects independently. However, help was always available if required.
As the 10 stars suggest, the numerous skills I have gained and developed with definitely be for life. Not only am I going into my final year of University feeling more confident and organised but I've also gained crucial attributes needed for a graduate level job.
The Company
The work atmosphere was very professional but not too serious. Everyone is friendly and on Fridays suits are not compulsory which is a great addition to the end of the week.
The work placement has been running for a number of years now so is very well set up.
I went on several training courses at the beginning of the placement to help me understand the background to some of my upcoming projects. I also went on visits to operational sites such as Heathrow tower to see aviation in action.

There is no graduate scheme in the department but there are many full-time opportunities available so they are on my list of jobs to apply for!
The Culture
There is 15+ placement students in NATS so are plenty of opportunities to socialise.
The cost of living/socialising was generally quite good. There are expensive areas but you have other choices.
Live in either Southampton or Portsmouth for the best nightlife
several events throughout the year were organised. These were great fun and was good to see everybody outside the work environment
