  • Very enjoyable placement that stretched me and gave me valuable work and life experience.

    4/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • Very, I was utilised as if I was a full-time member of staff and I was always given tasks that had value and importance.

    4/5

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • I met up regularly with my section manager as well as seeing my placement co-ordinator regularly throughout the year. I felt very supported and was given a good level of guidance.

    5/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • Although each day of the placement is very different, the intensity and quantity of the work doesn't! I very much enjoyed this but appreciate that this style of work may not be for everyone.

    5/5

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • Whether planning transport routes or submitting planning applications for new stores, I was always given much responsibility in whatever department that I was working within.

    4/5

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • The skills and training that I have received and developed will definitely help me transfer the academic knowledge that I have into a workplace scenario. This will definitely help assist me in the completion of my degree as well as giving me valuable hands on knowledge in a range of core business functions.

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • The atmosphere was always good throughout each of the different departments that I worked in.

    5/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • The placement was very well organised. The beauty of the placement for me was that I was always in control of what I did and where I wanted to go. After the initial 10 week training period, I choose three modules with each one lasting 12 weeks. On top of these, separate projects were organised by Head Office and despite what sounds like a manic schedule, the placement was always very well co-ordinated.

    5/5

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • The company invest a lot of time and finance into their placement students. We were flown to Head Office in London on numerous occasions for training. On top of this, we were also put through our personal alcohol licence as well as many other training events.

    5/5

  • 10. What were the perks on your work placement?
  • Company Car

    National Travel

    Company Parties/Events

    Above 25 days holiday

    5/5

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • The opportunity for future work excites me and is something I would be interested in depending on the role on offer.

    5/5

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • Although the placement students were spread throughout the UK, when we did all meet up, we all got on very well and had good chances to socialise together. This was also enhanced, as the group was split into two halves that each spent two weeks at Head Office in London.

    5/5

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • My living arrangements stayed the same despite my placement year. I was given travel expense for journeys over 35 miles so I was never losing out financially.

    5/5

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • Great, Glasgow is always good for a drink.

    5/5

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • During my two weeks at Head Office, I was invited to join in the departments after-work runs as well as play five aside football. Saying that, there weren't any chances to get involved in activities regionally.
