The Role
The placement year has given me a great insight into the 'real world'. The work was always extremely interesting and I was part of a fantastic team. I was given a huge amount of responsibility and was always encouraged to take part in new exciting projects. It was also great to work in such a well known and respected organisation in the heart of London. I could not have had a better placement year!
I spent my placement year with a wonderful team. We spent a lot of time together in and out of the office and have become very close. They were always very supportive and ensured that I get as much out of my placement as possible.
My supervisor was very supportive and always there when I needed them.
I was always very busy, especially between September and March.
I was given a huge amount of responsibility which was fantastic. For example I ran the sandwich student campaign to recruit the next placement students. I was responsible for advertising, organising the selection centres, running the selection centres, interviewing, assessing and administrating tests.
I have developed existing skills and gained new skills that will not only be useful at university, but also in my life after education. I have received excellent training and developed skills like self confidence, organisational skills, communication skills, interpersonal skills, etc.
The Company
The atmosphere was fantastic, everyone was very nice and the whole team got along great.
The placement was organised very well with fantastic training courses as part of our induction.
I was able to take part in fantastic training courses. Further more I was able to travel to many universities to represent the Bank of England at careers fairs. My supervisor also ensured that I got exposure to different parts and teams of the organisation.

I will definitelty consider to apply for a graduate position or experienced hire position in a few years after a postgraduate degree. The Bank of England is an extremely attractive employer.
The Culture
There is a good amount of placement students each year and plenty of opportunities to socialise. There were also many social events with my team.
As the placement is in the heart of London, living and socialising is more expensive that in other parts of the country. However, this should be expected when applying for a placment in London anyway. The Bank also reflects the higher costs of living in their benefits package. Working and living in central London for a year has been an incredible experience.
Fantastic.
There are countless opportunities in London and everything is easily reachable from the Bank of England.
