The Role
My placement year at GE was the best experience that I have had. I was given a high level of work responsibility
I felt extremely valued within my team through the responsibilities and opportunities that I was presented. My manager assessed me the same as my other colleagues and allowed me to work at a high level task responsibility.
My managers and colleagues were very supportive with my projects and other tasks. I felt comfortable to ask for guidance and help when necessary.
It took roughly 1-2 months to find my feet and settle into my role, but once I was given my own projects I was extremely busy on a daily basis.
The level of responsibilty that I was given was extremely high. My manager and I were presenting executive presentaitons to senior executives within the company. The skills and experience that I gained from this as a result is invaluable. I recognised the opportunities that were avaialble to me and grasped them with both hands.
My attention to detail, communication and leadership skills have flourished within this role and will make a notable impact during my final year. In addition, my computer skills have improved which will assist me further in my degree.
The Company
Friendly, comfortable and well mannered atmosphere.
Very well, although in my personal experience, I worked with a different manager and team than
I completed online training courses in many areas of the business to boost my knowledge and skills.

GE has many graduate programs which appeal to me and I will endeavour to apply to them during my final year. In addition, my manager and team have expressed their interest in me to work for them after my degree is completed (not on a graduate program however) - which I will consider in the near future.
The Culture
Great social scene, all interns were friendly and approachable.
Rather expensive for accomodation within the local area. Food and drink prices are average.
The nightlife is excellent: pubs, clubs, bars, and restaurants.
With GE being one of the largest corporations in the world, GE touches our everyday lives. Whether its volunteering within communities or taking part in charity sports days; GE has something to offer.
