The Role
A great opportunity to learn about a industry and business area that I had very little knowledge of before. Also learnt about the true meaning of a full time and using your own knowledge to solve issues which will aid the business in some way.
Felt valued as often asked my own thoughts on areas and problem solving tasks. Was fully integrated into the team. But also people understand that you have limited knowledge and are willing to help.
Had monthly one to ones with my line manager and the manager who I was working with at the time. Also lots of support from previous graduates who now worked there full time. Was also given support and guidance from different aspects of the business not just my own area. Also had to write my dissertation while on placement and they were willing to give me time and peoples own knowledge to help me with completing it.
Depending on what time of the month depended how busy I was. Was manic some weeks and quiter in others, also depended on the time of year. But was able to learn through this how to balance work more efficiently.
I had my own daily tasks and monthly tasks to complete. Which were completely my responsibilty. Also a number of individuals projects which I could work on. However also worked with other members of the team to provide support and a learning opportunity for me to learn from.
I received lots of training in a multiple of areas. Some skills I gained from working at NATS were generic business skills that they don't teach you at uni. In regards to my degree the area I worked in has now meant for that final year Supply Chain is one of my main modules.
The Company
We were going through a number of changes within the department but the team like atmosphere was great during my whole time there.
Very well organised with a placement timetable, objectives and understanding of my role set when I started. Even when changes happened to my placement it was flexible enough to change but also allowed the structure to remain intact.
The company invested in me by allowing for me take part in numerous training courses (internal/ external). Allowed for me to take part in a number of different business opportunities so that I gained a wide set of knowledge and skills.

I was advised that the whole year was a year long interview and that by how hard you worked and proved yourself was a good indicator for the future.
The Culture
There are sports clubs and other students to get involved with. But depending on which area you worked in depended on how much time you spent with other students.
Cheap as I lived at home. But normal prices for Portsmouth and Southampton.
Portsmouth and Southampton good nightlife and both uni cities so lots to do.
Charities, running clubs, football clubs were available within the company.
