The Role
It has been a fantastic experience that has provided dynamic and exciting challenges on a daily basis.
it often feels like I am just another full time employee, I am well respected and integrated into the work place
My line manager has supported me wholeheartedly through the placement offering a person to turn to in time of need as well as a mentor and supervisor.
There have been times when I have felt overwhelmed but have managed to rise to the challenge and get the job done
A surprising amount of responsibility was placed on my shoulders and I had to adapt and learn quickly to rise to the challenge.
I feel as though I learned more in the first 6 months of my placement than I did at 2 years of university
The Company
The factory environment creates an eclectic mix of people and personalities which creates a diverse environment with some stimulating conversations!
There is a good placement infrastructure at British Sugar and they are always asking for our feedback upon which they do take action.
They sent us to gain a Lean 6 Sigma qualification which is another string to the bow and is something that can't really be attained at university.
I would love to work for British Sugar upon graduating, they offer a good graduate scheme that is supportive and development oriented, ensuring that you progress as quickly as possible. It also pays well!!
The Culture
Not a lot of inter-site placement meet ups took place but that is possibly because all of the sites are well spread across East Anglia and the East Midlands, but when there were days where we all met up they were always fun.
I did not live near to where I worked
I did not live near to where I worked
they have a weekly football meet and there is the occasional leaving do. They also have various events through the year to celebrate things like Christmas etc..
