The Role
I really enjoyed my placement and felt it really helped me to do well in my final year at university as well as get a job on graduation.
I felt like part of the team straight away. I had good people around me who were always willing to listen to me.
My manager was really good and had loads of time for me. However even if he was busy there was always another member of the management team who I could speak to.
I was always busy enough. My team supported a sales team of over 300 people so there was always lots to do.
I feel that I was given enough responsibility for my level and never had any red tape stopping me from working.
The work I did helped me a lot during my final year. I struggled in my 1st and 2nd year however with my work experience I was able to relate the work I was doing at university to the experiences I had at PepsiCo
The Company
It was ok however I was only 1 of 3 placement students so the average ago of the people in the office was late 20's to early 30's. This meant that there wasnt much of a social side going on. Since I have come back though the placement program has grown and there are now 7 students taken on in IT with a view to more.
This would be my only gripe. There was not much organisation going on at the time however this has now changed extensively with a mentoring system and an induction process which is ongoing during your time on placement. This ranges from visits to our factories to days out with sales teams.
There was no certified training offered however there was an internal tool which was available to use to teach you anything from excel to access as well as a couple of other training courses.

Working from home
I got a job when I graduated so I would rate this as excellent however there is no formal graduate program and no guarentee of a job at the end however they do generally offer 1 day a week roles during your final year as well as working during holiday periods.
The Culture
There was one however I was commuting so was not near to most people when things were going on. Since I have graduated they have formed a sports and social commitee which organise loads of trips and sports clubs.
I lived with family which worked out to be cheap but reading does seem to be ok and it is a university city so you will always find somewhere to stay.
Like I said I lived with family in the countryside so not exactly banging.
I played football and I know there were netball teams etc and now that there is a sports and social club it is much better.
