About You
It was a very useful experience which covered a lot of ground about the divisions in an investment bank - we also had to do team-building workshops and had a work shadowing session for an afternoon
During this one week internship they employees did their best to make you feel comfortable and at home with asking any questions you had. They also arranged many activities for us to make it fun
The works shadowing session was a great opportunity to ask as many questions as you wanted on a one to one basis - this was great as it was more informal and you felt more confident asking them
This was a fantastic introduction into the workings of an investment bank - the different departments the different continents they target and the clients they work with. Personal branding was also introduced
The Company
Very well structured almost seamlessly - in that we had many activities but they also gave us plenty of breaks to relax and a bit of social time in other to get to know each other during the week
friendly and fun
They had several presentations and many workshops - therefore they invest time and the workers necessary to host these presentations and supervise our workshops/answer questions
We did spend quite a substantial time in office during the week so we had more exposure than normal on a regular short insight - the graduate team were also keen to advise us on future progress
definitely the people there all seem genuinely enthusiastic about their work and their work place - obviously this is supposed to occur but it was great to see how much they seemed to enjoy it
Each division was introduced and this helped in deciding which path you might like to focus on in the future - overall there are too many choices it seems but UBS seems like a great place to work
Everything Else
There were numerous opportunities to network thoroughout the week - there were several sessions just for networking with different departments and this occured at the end of the week
they were informative mostly, getting to speak to other employees of different departments and a bit about their background. There were also more social events in the evening which was fun
Briefly -music, sports, volunteering
This experience is beneficial for anyone considering a career in investment banking, it is also a good opportunity to establish a relationship with USB and a future internship the following year
