The Role
Thoroughly enjoyed my placement, settled in well with the team, the work that was given to me was meaningful and there are plenty of opportunities to socialise out of work with the team, such as organised activity days out.
The supervisors and the team quickly settle you in and always keep you involved, if they notice that your work load is empty they will always find you something to do. Also when parts of the team go for coffee breaks they'll always ask the placements.
My supervisor and assigned mentor sat down with me once a fortnight to see what work I was doing and would always ask how everything is and if I needed help. There have been occasions where I have had an issue with something and my supervisor would always make time to sort anything out.
As a whole the work flow has been well managed. If I had too much or too little work I would make my mentor aware and my mentor would always help. There were some days where I had too much work and some days where I had to little, but that will always happen in a work place.
I was surprised at how much responsibility was given to me; making my work feel meaningful to the business. Obviously i wasn't made overly responsible for everything! But more than I was expecting
I have learnt valuable time keeping and time planning skills that will assist me with my dissertation. My attitude to work and my confidence have also improved
The Company
Surrounded by enthusiastic people who care about their work which helped to motivate me
Training was well planned to fit in with work load. The training wasn't lumped all together either, time was given for us to have some training, then practice those methods and then have more training and necessary guidance
Time and resource was given to me for my own personal development, they allowed me to go on a first aid and fire warden course that they funded. My supervisor also allowed me to take time out to complete my placement report for my university
Subsidised Canteen
Company Parties/Events
Staff Sales/Staff Shop
If the opportunity presented itself, I would happily re-apply
The Culture
Social gatherings of all types were arranged for the placements regularly
Wasn't too bad, being situated in Cambridgeshire will always make everything a little more expensive
Wide variety of pubs and clubs
Activities were always being arranged, we even assisted in the creation of a pond for a local primary school
