    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • Thoroughly enjoyed my time here, if offered a job here after University I wouldn't think twice.

    5/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • Made friends with everybody, made friends with people who I hope to know for the rest of my life! Never hesitated to help me out if I was in need.

    5/5

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • Full support given to me by my line Manager. He carefully integrated me into the company by slowly feeding me jobs that required extra skills and responsibility.

    5/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • My manager always made sure that I had work to do, yet he made sure that I did not have too much work to do, always asked me for reassurance on whether I was stressed with the work I had to do. We had regular top 5 meetings to discuss the work we had to do, whether I neeed extra work, or whether I was happy for the day.

    5/5

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • I was given plenty of responsibility, but not too much. I was given the responsibility of insourcing products into the UK from abroad, I would micro-manage the UK suppliers to ensure a smooth transition, this I felt was a good amount of responsibility. There were some decisions that I made which resulted in differences I could physically see within in the company, this was a very satisfying side to the job.

    5/5

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • The skills I have learned during my time here are skills I will be using for the rest of my working life. The way to handle myself and talk to suppliers, the way to conduct myself in the place of work, even friendly banter in the office, invaluable skills that can't be learned in the classroom.

    5/5

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • The atmosphere in the office was always friendly, people were working hard most of the time, but there was always time for friendly chats, the balance was just right.

    4/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • Perfectly organised. My line manager had everything prepared for me, I had a desk, computer and phone waiting for me on my first day. In my second and third week, I worked along side the manual workers in the factory, this gave me an idea of what goes on in the plant. I've had set appraisals for me to complete to track my progress while I've been working here.

    5/5

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • ANY available training, my line manager put me forward. He wanted me to get all the training I needed and would always consult me before he put my name forward.

    5/5

  • 10. What were the perks on your work placement?
  • Company Car

    National Travel

    International Travel

    Company Parties/Events

    Above 25 days holiday

    5/5

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • I have been put forward as a candidate for the companies very own internship scheme. If I pass interview stages whilst I am finishing my degree at University, I have a job with the company in North America when I finish University.

    5/5

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • Students all got along with each other, there were no planned social events outside of work, students planned their own social gatherings.

    4/5

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • The cost of living in the area I worked in was very reasonable, considering how clean and safe the city was.

    4/5

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • Lichfield isn't reknown for its nightlife, there were some half-decent pubs.

    2/5

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • No real ativities outside of work were arranged while I worked there, there have been times where my department have been taken for dinner on the odd occasion.

    3/5
