About You
It was a great placement and it is a great law firm however the employment department was very quiet and I felt a little neglected. I made sure that I made the most of the experience by visiting other departments who were much better and looked after me.
I feel most of the departments did value me
The trainee that looked after me was great.
I learnt what a trainee actually does and the types of work done. For more info please comment
The Company
Was relatively well structured with some flaws.
Was very welcoming and pleasant.
i attended some training session which were good and some talks which were informative. I did learn some business and legal things that i was unaware of before. the talks were optional but i ensured that i attended them.
it was very helpful as i was able to see what a trainee would do at the firm. the work that the trainees were doing would be the kind of work that I would do in a full time role there and I was able to help the trainees when on the placement
it gave me a relatively good insight into the culture. was very friendly.everyone or most people were approachable and it was great to feel that people were genuinely interested and trying to leave a good impression.
the content was fairly helpful but it was more useful in terms of networking. The work that i was given was fairly predictable and i was happy to do it and definitely did learn some things but the placement was more useful for networking and getting a feel for the firm.
Everything Else
I was not paid for the placement and i was not reimbursed for travel. It was not something that i was expecting but perhaps something that could have been offered as a nice token and to leave a good impression.
I made the opportunities myself by emailing people and asking them if i could meet with them etc. There were not any organised opportunities by the firm and it was more down to my own personal effort.
there were no social events and no networking events.Any networking that i did was down to my own efforts and by visiting other departments and talking to as many people as possible. I sent a lot of email to people in other departments too.
I learnt that there were some charity and social as well as sports evernts that take place regularly. this was good to know and great to know that there are opportunities to get involved. Seemed a lot of people took part in them which is good.
it was a great week and i would definitely recommend it to a friend because of this. The firm was very friendly but I do think any negative parts of the week were down to the fact that i was placed in a very quiet department.
