    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • I really enjoyed my placement, and would like to return for the Graduate Scheme that Thales offer.

  • My colleagues were all friendly, helpful and supportive.

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • My managers were extremely supportive and any issues I had were sorted out shortly after asking.

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • I was busy most of the time on my project, I did have some slow weeks when I was changing projects.

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • I was given lots of responsibility on my placement. One of my projects I had almost complete control over as I was implementing it from scratch.

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • My placement has massively helped me develop skills in various programming languages and to help me to develop my skills. Which will help me in my future studies.

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • The general atmosphere was good, occasionally the office felt a bit empty but it was still a pleasant environment.

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • My interview and assessment center was a bit last minute, which did mean I had to rush to find a place to live. However when I started working everything was ready for me to start.

  • I have attended some training courses for the company, however I would have benefited from different courses.

  • Thales have summer internships and a Graduate placement scheme which I hope to get a place on.

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • I started at the same time as the other interns and graduates which meant I wasn't on my own when I started

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • The cost of living was fairly high as the company is based near London. Socializing was possible as there are a few pubs to meet in town.

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • There are a few clubs, pubs and bars in Crawley. I didn't normally go to them as I'm not interested in clubbing.

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • There was a graduate football team and a few other events outside of work.
