The Role
This year has been a very good introduction into the working life, I've had many responsibilities as part of my daily role. I have also had opportunities to get involved with various projects in order to develop and build on skills.
Collegues would be appreciative of the work I completed for them, awards were also given out for recognition of work.
If I needed support my manager would always be willing to book a meeting to go through it.
This varied. Working in Finance at month end I would be busier, it also depended if I was working on another project out side of my daily role.
I was given quite a lot of responsibility with people depending on me to get their work done.
Through presenting a few times to senior managers improved my communication and presentation skills which will always be useful. I received excel training which I could take with me to complete my degree and in future jobs.
The Company
I worked in two different offices, I would most of all they were quite quiet however this depended on whether there were important meetings taking place. Everyone was really friendly and always offered help if you needed it.
Very well. This placement meant that I could work in Finance for 9 montsh and then for the last three months work on a different project to build on my knowledge of the company. We also worked on a CSR project for a through months which was a good opportunity to work with other IP's in differnet departments/buildings, and to present to the COO.
I completed an Excel training course which was necessary for my role.

If a Placement Students does well in their appraisal, gets recommended back from their manager and achieves a 2.1 degree then they will be fast tracked to the assessment centre.
The Culture
As most of us living close to eachother in Reading, there was a really good social scene. Every weekend we would all socialise together, and throughout the week. There was also intercompany bar crawls arranged which is with other companys such as Microsoft, Panasonic etc.
Considering it is close to London the cost of living is standard. Socialising is expensive if you go out on a Saturday.
We would go out in Reading, there are 4 main clubs that we would go to. Although they arent massive clubs we have had so many great nights out throughout the year.
There wasn't anything arranged by Fujitsu however as all the placement students got on really well we would arrange activities ourselves. At Christmas Fujitsu organise Christmas Parties, this year I went to three as depending on which department you work in they may arrange a christmas meal seperately.
