The Role
The placement was great due to the wide variety of areas you can choose to work in (sales-store, warehouse and property) and the flexibilty of these choices. I chose to spend time in store and warehouse, splitting the time in warehouse between Goods In and Transport.
Everyone I have met within the company have always been willing to help me learn as much as possible and made me feel part of the team even though I have only spent a number of months in each department.
The role of the RTM (regional training mentor) has meant that there has always been someone available to contact should we have any problems or questions which has been great. Management in each department I have been in have also been extremely busy.
Every day has brought a new challenge, there is never a dull moment so I was constantly busy.
A lot of responsibilty has been given to me even though I chose to spend time in both stores and the warehouse which has been great as I worried splitting up my time would affect this.
The skills I have learnt will definitely help me during my last year at university as well in the future, especially when it comes to management roles.
The Company
I was rarely in an office during my time with the company but the atmosphere has always been good with people very willing to help me.
The organisation was good in the fact that the modules are for set periods of time and on top of these other opportunites were given to us such as taking part in Regional and Head Office projects.
The company invested a lot into us as placement students from giving us the opportunity to take real responsibilty in the work place to giving us the opportunity to meet with all the other placement students 4/5 times in the year where we received training and a chance to catch up and exchange experiences.
