The Role
Much better than expected
Felt like a full member of the team
generally good, regular meetings, always available for questions but most contact initiated by myself
was slow starting but once fully trained and more competent, busy
as much as the training would allow, an amount relevant to my competency, though i would always strive for more
practically helpful and good for the future but will not necessarily be applicable/relevant to my studies in terms of acedemic scientific knowledge
The Company
very friendly, team atmosphere, light
slow starting but good from there on, definitely got more out by looking and arranging opportunities myself than other people who did'nt
There was an investment of time for meetings and progress reviews but there wasn't any additional courses, conference days, knowledge shares or networking which would have been good
Subsidised Canteen
Sports and Social Club
Subsidised/Company Gym
Financial Bonus
Company Parties/Events
Staff Sales/Staff Shop
nice company to work for, notable benfits to being an actual GSK employee as opposed to contracted
The Culture
yes if you take the initiative to be involved theres a lot going on
Not set up for the student lifestyle for nights out and housing so perhaps more than most university students are used to, closer to london which is expensive also
smaller clubs and bars in a town about 15 minutes away, just pubs and restaurants in the local town. feasible to go to london.
with other students, yes. with your department for meals and birthdays, leaving parties - yes. with the company, the christmas party, orange day, sport and social club events and clubs, summer event day, orange week
