The Role
I have thoroughly enjoyed my year working at the Barnard Castle site, I have been involved in a high profile project which I have found very rewarding and enjoyable.
One of the best aspects about this placement was the fact that my colleagues did not treat me like a student, I was respected and given the same roles and tasks as permanent members of staff.
I was given thorough support and guidance to ensure that I achieved the most out of my placement that I possibly could. This helped to give me direction and understand the kind of role that I want to move on to when I graduate.
I was always given the same amount of work as fellow colleagues, this was a perfect balance to keep me busy. If I ever felt that the level of work was not achievable, I would mention it at a daily accountability board where any issues would be resolved.
I was given an extensive amount of responsibility, that meant I could flourish in my role and become very familiar with the working enbironment.
I have developed very good communication, organisational and time management skills over the course of my placement, these will come in very useful when I continue with my degree.
The Company
A very social and good atmosphere to work in.
The placement was well set up and I always had plenty of work to do on an interesting high profile project.
I was well trained in many different aspects that were useful both in the working environemtn and away from it.
Flexi Time
Financial Bonus
Company Parties/Events
The graduate scheme available provides a very appealing opportunity which I am very keen to get involved with.
The Culture
We regularly had evening at the pub and organised charity events.
Very cheap area to live, only problem being Barnard Castle is relatively remote.
It was good as Durham, Darlington and Newcastle were relatively close by.
There were plenty of opportunites that I could get involved with, these varied from football to mountainbiking.
