The Role
I loved my placement. It was hard work at the start but the more I learned, the more I immersed myself in the work and enjoyed it.
Everyone in the team was very friendly - they had a well established structure for placement students so were used to us being around.
My supervisor was so helpful - she was so patient no matter how many times I asked the same questions!
Most days I had loads to do - definitely the same workload as some of the permanent staff but that just meant that I felt valued.
I had my own independent research project as well as assisting my supervisor and others with their experiments.
I know that the lab skills I've gained will be invaluable for my final year project/dissertation and the placement has helped me to decide what I would like to pursue in terms of career opportunities in the future.
The Company
Lots of fun and laughter whilst still getting lots done! It was a great balance for me.
A two week training programme, followed by one to one support for the rest of the year when needed. The company is used to taking on placement students so the programme worked very well.

It's a very competitive company to get into but we have been offered opportunities.
The Culture
A great group of placement students - we all got on really well Definitely made some friends for life!
Cheaper than I'm used to in London, that's for sure....
Not the best in the town itself but London is only 30 minutes away so I can't complain!
