The Role
I have decided that being a scientist is not for me which means I can't give top marks but the working environmnet and the treatment of employees was really good.
pretty much all of the permenant staff are a lot older than the students so there can be a bit of a divide but most of the staff are really nice and friendly and there is a big student community on site
my supervisor was lovely and was fine about it when I told her I didn't want to go into science after the placement. In fact, she took time out to discuss career plans and if GSK could do anything to help me with them
I planned my own time mostly so it was up to me how busy I was
I was trusted with equipment and to run my own experiments with guidence from my supervisor
I do not want to go into reasearch science so a lot of the skills i've learnt will not be much use in my future career but will be invaluble in my final year project atr university
The Company
we have small offices which can be quite close knit. we go on tea breaks together and took part in the festive games together and all got really in to it.
everything went smoothly. GSK also paid for travel down to the site for interviews and the induction day so we didn't have to worry about money.
there were lots of seminars we were encouraged to go to as well as a careers advisor at one of our meetings and support from supervisors.

I don't want to continue on as a scientist but employees here are treated well so I would consider applying for a different role within the company, just have to figure out which one!
The Culture
excellent. there are so many of us on site and we all have lunch together in the break room so get to know eachother quickly
there were some mderately priced pubs and a cocktail bar with good offers but the one club in town was very overpriced
some decent pubs, good cocktail bar and an overpirced club
in terms of things attached to work, there were a couple of parties and the sports centre organised a few teams and events. there were lots of things organised by students
