The Role
Good experience, but it got very boring within a few months.
Feel like I contributed to the company somewhat.
Plenty of support, though my supervisor wasn't very familiar with some of the experiments I was doing.
Quite busy, sometimes found it difficult to keep on top of work but in general I was given the right amount of work.
Given responsibility for the assay I was running, but was heavily managed
Will help me get onto a PhD programme and will help a lot with final year. Learned a lot of lab skills and improved my communication skills.
The Company
Lots of cakes but pretty quiet.
The placement felt well organised.
Was not willing to let me try experiments beyond plate-based assays. Spent the whole time doing one assay pretty much. I feel I stopped learning much after the first 4-5 months.
Flexi Time
Sports and Social Club
Subsidised/Company Gym
Company Parties/Events
Chance to apply for a fastrack graduate entry.
The Culture
Pretty good social scene
Decent cost. Not too expensive.
1 club. Few bars / pubs.
Gym, sports (squash, badminton, football etc.), oocasional work socials.
