The Role
Hard work and stressful at times but I have learnt so much and thoroughly enjoyed all the opportunities that have been presented to me.
Such a welcoming team, felt included from day 1.
Was assigned an industrial supervisor within my team who would be there to help with anything and everything that was required.
Each day was different, some days quieter than others but always busy enough to keep the day interesting and productive.
Assigned several method development projects where the outcome would be implemented within the quality laboratories and the new methods would be used by the flow team analysts.
What I have learnt at GSK is invaluable, and I truely believe that I have learnt skills for life. Not only skills within the laboratory using different analysis techniques but also skills within a diverse and fast-paced working environment.
The Company
Within the office, the atmosphere was quite mellow due to there being members of different teams and everyone having a lot to do each day, however within the lab and the canteen etc everyone was up for a laugh.
I was always considered for upcoming projects and my industrial supervisor was always ensuring that I had everything I needed for the university side of my placement.
Not so much in direct monetry terms, but the time that people on site dedicated to me for training and support throughout my placement was extremely high and of the highest quality.
Subsidised Canteen
National Travel

Above 25 days holiday
I have applied for a place on the Grad Scheme once I graduate and hope to return to work within GSK in the near future.
The Culture
Being at Montrose, the number of placement students was limited, however coupled with some summer interns and recent graduates there was an amazing group of us who socialised regularly. Nights out organised by work were also great fun and also brought the site together and provided the opportunity to socialise with people from other departments
Accomodation was reasonably priced, however nights out weren't as cheap as other places due to there being no student population, therefore promotional nights didn't really exist.
Only one club, but plenty of bars for drinking in with pool tables which made a nice change being able to speak to people.
The MGFA committee would regularly organised out of work activities such as, pub quizes, site Christmas dance, squash tournament, 5-a-side football tournament, fishing trips, ski trips, walking etc. Always extremely well organised and often subsidised heavily too.
