The Role
Waking up and coming in to work is as exciting after a year as it is on your first day!
My team treat my as a colleague, not as a student. This enforces the fact that you're really contributing, which is rewarding.
Support is there when you need it, but at the same time, my supervisor made sure I wasn't smothered.
GSK promotes giving students meaningful responsibilities from the outset, and in line with this my project, and the direction I took it in, was completely down to me.
The Company
The department I worked in is fortunate to be staffed by people with a wide range of personalities which work well together. Trust is built easily in this environment and personal development is continuous.
In order to develop your skills as much as possible GSK runs several IP courses during your placement year. They range from soft skills to presentation classes and are organised to fit in with your work schedule.
Flexi Time
Sports and Social Club
Subsidised/Company Gym
Financial Bonus
Company Parties/Events
Staff Sales/Staff Shop
Healthcare from home
GSK has a fantastic grad scheme and operates a fast track entry system for IP students.
The Culture
Although living close to London has it's advantages, the cost of living is not one of them.
You'd find more nightlife in a nunnery
GSK runs numerous charity programs, which are a great opportunity to learn respect for people, as well as build relationships. The Ware site also hosts a wide range of sports facilities.
