The Role
Really enjoyable, everyone friendly and willing to answer questions/ talk to you about their job.
Students were treated equally and not as second class scientists ! Asked to present in meetings and trusted with experiments counting towards important projects.
Excellent supervisor and team leader. Students in the department had a training week
Up to you to manage your workload and decide when to do things.
Good balance between responsibility and supervision. enough guidance to feel confident without feeling like being babysat. Encouraged to make own decisions.
Invaluable skills both in an out of the lab. Skills such as project management, writing scientifically, prioritise work flow.
The Company
Friendly open plan office with 'break out' rooms for phonecalls etc
Organised during and before start date. Familiarisation day in late June before start to meet supervisor, see the site and meet other students
Invested in everyone even though only here for 12 months.

Difficult to get offered a full time role after graduating with a BSc as many positions in R&D require PhD. Opportunity to apply for the graduate scheme before external applicants.
The Culture
Lots of students on site and all living in the same area.
very reasonable compared to university. (~£300)
Nothing much in Stevenage but plenty to do in London - 25 minute train journey
Sports teams and clubs etc in the local area. e.g tennis, netball, rugby
