The Role
I really enjoyed working in Cummins. I was given different roles or tasks to manage and this made me learn and develop my skills throughout my 12 months.
As Cummins is more diverse, I felt everyone was so friendly and welcoming.
I received a lot of support from my manager especially at the start where I was trying to learn about my role and business needs and gradually the amount of support decreased as I learnt about the business and procedures but he was out there all the time to provide me support whenever I need.
At the start of my placement I felt like so much to learn and do. Eventually, I found that I was frequently very busy. I was never short of tasks to do, as on daily basis new tasks kept coming up. My role enabled me to get involved in a wide variety of tasks and each day brought something different. Primarily I worked on part of a team on projects and helped to co-ordinate them, including organising schedules and resources. During my placement I was given the opportunity to gain exposure to specific functions, including IT and Finance. I gained understanding of financial planning and business strategy, which developed my awareness of how a multi-national organisation operates.
I was given a great deal of responsibility. After l learnt the processes of the business I was given sole responsibility of numerous projects worldwide.
As I learned a lot about Cummins and its business structure or environment and my understanding of business functionality have increased I feel that when I return to my final year of degree the new skills and developed skills, Technical or other knowledge, techniques which used while working on projects/tasks and trainings which I received will be extremely helpful.
