The Role
Despite the workload being high and my skills being tested, I would be lying if I said I didn't enjoy my time here
My bosses intergrated me really well into the team and gave me responsibility very early on; this made me feel less like a placement student and more like a part of the team
My management was always there willing to help, but at the same time they were always willing to trust my decisions if I wanted to progress something independently.
At times it slowed down, but the workload was usually pretty high!
Of course I had to learn the ropes and gain experience in certain aspects before I could gain full responsibility, but by the end I had full responsibility on almost everything I did, with my bosses simply there as a guide.
My organisational skills have vastly improved! My punctuality, ability to communicate my ideas in a team and work ethic have all also benifitted from this experience.
The Company
My bosses knew when to have fun, but also when to knuckle down.
Some bits weren't organised too well, but they were new things and thus have since been improved through experience.
There was a lot of training involved, as well as a lot of time and money invested by the company.
Staff Sales/Staff Shop
I would love to come back to this company and the sheer size of it means there are a great number of opportunities throughout the business.
The Culture
There was only one other placement student on site with me, but we got on very well so it didn't matter too much!
I was able to remain in Kingston in a student house so my situation didn't change during the placement. I was on a salary though so I guess it got cheaper!
Not great, but again I was still in a student house.
Not really, but opportunities certainly arised.
