The Role
I felt valued and like I was integral to the operations of the business, not just someone to pick up the slack and do as I was told - they gave me projects to manage and real responsibility.
I think that I fell lucky with my immediate managers, in that we got on better than I could ever have expected, which seems to be the case with a lot of students. Then further to this, everyone I met throughout my placement was so helpful and treated me just like any other member of staff.
I was never bored, just sometimes a little too busy!
The skills were so varied and transferrable. GSK really invest in developing you, even through you're only there for the year!
The Company
Subsidised/Company Gym
National Travel
Financial Bonus
Company Parties/Events
Working from home
This would be the main negative for me - there are very few places on the graduate scheme in the area that I work and whilst it's great the GSK take on so many placement students, it also means there isn't the highest conversion into graduate roles.
The Culture
Immediately by work there are just pubs, but it's not too far from central (say half an hour), so that was good!
