The Role
My placement was a fantastic experience!! the only reason I didn't rate it a 10 was because sometimes each week got a bit repetitive.
I felt like all my colleagues trusted me 100% and that me being there was an asset to the department.
It was very easy to go and talk to my colleagues and supervisors about particular tasks or training.
At the beginning of my placement I found that I didn't have enough to keep my occupied and that once I had finished all the jobs I had been assigned then I was twiddling my thumbs and waiting however, that all stopped after about 2 months and a ballance was reached. Some weeks my work load would increase but not to the extent where I was rushed off my feet.
Once I had been trained in all the appropriate tasks I was allowed to just get on. I felt completely trusted with everything.
The skills I have learnt throughout the year will undoubtedly aid me in my final year at Uni and for the rest of my life. Not only have I gained useful practical skills I have also had practice in communication and presentation skills which are always needed.
The Company
The office had a very professional atmosphere; there was the occasional light conversation but it was clear that most people had a lot of work to do and everyone was respectful of that.
mostly very well organised.
I was treated like a regular employee.
Flexi Time
Subsidised Canteen
Sports and Social Club
Company Parties/Events
Staff Sales/Staff Shop
I wouldn't think twice about applying for a job with GSK.
The Culture
Cost of living in the south was very different from what I am used to in the North. I had to adjust to that but I managed.
Brighton was a 20 minute train journey away.
Loads of social and sports clubs in teh area. I joined my local Ladied Football Team.
