The Role
I have really enjoyed the variety of work which I have been able to get involved with
I have never felt like I am just a placement student. At all times I was treated like a young professional
I have had a really supportive manager who has introduced me to various stakeholders which I have been given work from.
My day to day work load varied, but throughout the twelve months working at Fujitsu I have never had a day where I have done nothing
I was lucky and got to manage my own project where I had multiple stakeholders, place holders and third parties working alongside me. I got a lot of responsibility.
I attended training courses throughout the year which built upon knowledge and concepts taught to me at University.
The Company
The atmosphere in my office was mixed , sometimes it was rushed and stressed when we had a major incident happening. However, the majority of the time it was relaxed and easy going.
The placement structure is really good, as the Graduate team organise events in London for you to get involved in. There is also a charity project half way through the year which brings placement students together from all areas of the business.
Fujitsu will invest in you to an extent, if you want to go on a training course which costs =>£1k then its going to be a no as your only there for a year! However, if you need a programme so you can do your work or want to go on a reasonably priced training course then there won’t be much of a problem.
Flexi Time
Subsidised Canteen
Financial Bonus
Company Parties/Events
Above 25 days holiday
Working from home
The retention from IP scheme to Grad scheme is good, if you get a good rating from your line manager and the graduate recruitment manager then you get given the opportunity to come to a graduate assessment centre.
The Culture
The IP Community is second to none in my opinion, working in Bracknell and living in Reading makes for a perfect placement year. This is because Bracknell is a 15 min drive away and Reading has a good mix of placement students (not just from Fujitsu) and student from Reading Uni
My rent was £300 a month (exc bills) living in Reading and the cost of living is the same as being a student.
There isn’t any nightlife in Bracknell, Readings not a bad place to have a night-out in though.
There were your usual clubs such as Zumba and after work football clubs
