The Role
Highly enjoyable towards the end, but did feel a bit like an undervalued wallflower at the beggining.
Initially felt a bit undervalued, so you have to remind people you're there sometimes, but things got much better once I started to take on my own project and got used to my surroundings.
Had regular check ins and meetings, would have been nice to have been kept in the loop a bit more when it came to projects and things though.
Mostly busy once I was given my own projects, but sometimes there were long periods when there wasn't enough for me to do!
An average amount I'd say. I enjoyed taking the reins for project work but sometimes I wasn't always consulted about things I was responsible for.
I definitely had the oportunity to gain invaluable laborotory skills and great confidence working in the lab in general. Also my communication skills improved greatly after having to present to the CEO!
The Company
Generally quite lively and chatty unless people were really busy.
No too great. The instrument I was meant to be using for my project wasnt working and didn't get fixed until the second half of my placement. But I was given other things to do.
I was trained up to use all of the instruments and some documentation work was left exclusively to me, along with a project.

Company Parties/Events
The particular site I was on wasn't hugely appealing to me as it was very far from home, but it was very good to get first hand experience in seeing the factory and how drinks were manufactured. And the freebie drinks were good!
The Culture
Yes, many younger people recruited just after I started in the analytical team and the whole office got on really well.
Lived in cheltenham which was much more expensive than living in say Coleford where the factory was based. But on the plus side theres much more to do in Cheltenham in terms of shopping, going out etc.
Pretty decent nightlife in Cheltenham. Small university town so lots of decent places to get cheap drinks.
Yep, found a good dance schoold and there were plenty of gyms/sports clubs etc.
