The Role
It gave me a great insight into what it is like to work in an industrial laboratory
I always received encouragement from my supervisor and other colleagues. I was made to feel like part of the team.
Supervisors were always there to answer any questions and I gained great training not just at the start but throughout my placemment
There was always work to be doing. Some days it was lighter than others but never boring.
After the initial training I was trusted to carry out assays myself although help was always there if it was needed.
I learnt how to adapt to new work environments and to pick up new skills quickly which I think I can take back to my final year of study.
The Company
I was in quite a small office although everyone got on.
It was very well organised from the beginining and there was always someone to talk to if there were issues.
GSK invested a lot of time and effort into training all students to a high level. There were always lectures throughout the year if you wanted to further enhance your knowledge.

Staff Sales/Staff Shop
There are oppurtunities to register for GSK fast track graduate scheme and they regularly take on PHD students in different departments.
The Culture
Most of the students socialise together both at work and outside of it.
It was an average price. Most things were reasonably prices.
There were some nice pubs to socialise inbut for more busy nightlife London was preferable.
There were a few social clubs and sports activitie throughout the town.
