The Role
We were helped to find our feet by everyone we worked with but they made sure we were challenged in the work we did so we added something back to the team. Everyone was really nice and helpful and as the teams were generally of quite young people they all remembered what it was like to start without a clue.
Everyone was so friendly and tried hard to include you at all stages. In the department I worked we worked in a number of small teams for a few weeks at a time which meant that we got to meet a lot of people and as the teams were relatively small you got to know the people you worked with well. The other interns also became really good friends.
We were encouraged to write aims and self evaluations throughout the time we were there and we received feedback from the people we worked with which was all gone over with our career coach who we were assigned to on a regular basis. There was also a buddy system in place so that if you had any problems there was someone there to help.
As the placement was throughout the summer it is the quiet season in auditing so for a week or so there was little to do. On the other hand when you were booked out on a job there you were nearly always busy so it did balance out. You did have to work hard but that is to be expected in any job you go for if you are trying to challenge yourself
As soon as you in-charge felt you were competent enough you were given as much responsibility as you wanted. Although they are always there for guidance you are encouraged to think independently to solve any problems encountered.
Although few of the skills I learnt can be transferred to my degree I have learnt to be more confident as we were required to talk to managing directors and financial directors of companies to find out the information needed which was a bit daunting at first.
The Company
In my department the majority of people were young and PwC is a very youthful company so there were a lot of socials and everyone was really friendly so it was a great environment to be in.
It was very well organised through the application process however when we started the internship we had to be very proactive at first to get booked on jobs so in that respect it could have used a little more organisation.
PwC was very interested in our self reviews and in feedback we gained and always encouraged us to be challenged and to challenge ourselves.

If you perform well on the internship you may be offered a graduate job.
The Culture
Between ll the interns we organised a few nights out and with my closest friends made on the internship we did even more.
