About You
Best vac scheme I have done (albeit out of this and one other).
Worked in corporate practice, good area for a vac schemer as you get to have input in a lot of different tasks
Trainee buddy was there to give advice whenever needed, open plan office where everyone has time for you if you need anything explained.
Useful skills applicable to a legal career (obviously), great information on the firm and the wider industry.
The Company
Packed a lot into 2 weeks but went by v smoothly
Collegiate atmosphere, even in larger team such as corporate. Within corporate you might expect it to be slightly more impersonal (with 50+ people in the London office) but the opposite was true.
As much as expected.
This was the point of the vac scheme (alongside the assessment that goes with it)
Very clear on values important to the firm; this plays an integral part to what you are being assessed on.
Had already decided, but helped confirm my goals.
Everything Else
Payment more than covered food/transport over course of the scheme.
Encouraged to talk to anyone/everyone
Useful - got to talk to a good cross section of the firm
Sports, CR projects (for which you get an allowance of hours to take of to do per year)
Would recommend to anyone who wants to work somewhere where there are exciting opportunities for growth (UK and internationally). If you are attracted to law solely because of mega deals and the idea of working for a global behemoth, PM is probably not for you.
