The Role
I enjoyed it a good deal as the month developed, but was initially unsure of my role or place in the office. This situation did improve as the placement went on, and I enjoyed my time a good deal more in the final weeks.
I did feel valued: teh work I did was clearly helpful, and I was asked to do more (!) so I did feel valued.
To a high degree. They answered my questions, and ensured that I was placed with the right people to be of most use and to have an interesting and useful experience.
I was busy enough, but not too busy. Time management is a skill I wish to develop, so it was good having plenty of varied tasks to complete.
I was given responsibility for completing tasks more or les unsupervised, and had responsibility for mananging my own workload.
I gained useful insights and practised skills that I will need in my future career.
The Company
Focused, but not too serious. Savills is clearly a company that recognises that people perform well in a friendly but professioal atmosphere, with incentives provided by team spirit and cooperation, as well as financial incetives, not by imposing arbitray performance targets or other "sticks".
Generally very well, although there did seem to be some lack of communication from the graduate recruitment team, for example about the purpose and treatment of a maths and literacy test.
Very well. They were working to tight deadlines, with a heavy workload, and took time to explain principles and to discuss work in more genreal terms, not just in relation to the secific tasks I was given.
Sports and Social Club
It is hard to know for sure, but they seem to been happy toconsider me for future employment, though much depends on my subsequent study.
The Culture
The office organised some events which I was invited to attend, where I had the opportunity to meet and talk to other employees. No other placement students were in my office.
I commuted from my home, so it was fine, bar the travel.
