    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • I enjoyed it a good deal as the month developed, but was initially unsure of my role or place in the office. This situation did improve as the placement went on, and I enjoyed my time a good deal more in the final weeks.

    3/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • I did feel valued: teh work I did was clearly helpful, and I was asked to do more (!) so I did feel valued.

    4/5

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • To a high degree. They answered my questions, and ensured that I was placed with the right people to be of most use and to have an interesting and useful experience.

    4/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • I was busy enough, but not too busy. Time management is a skill I wish to develop, so it was good having plenty of varied tasks to complete.

    4/5

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • I was given responsibility for completing tasks more or les unsupervised, and had responsibility for mananging my own workload.

    4/5

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • I gained useful insights and practised skills that I will need in my future career.

    4/5

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • Focused, but not too serious. Savills is clearly a company that recognises that people perform well in a friendly but professioal atmosphere, with incentives provided by team spirit and cooperation, as well as financial incetives, not by imposing arbitray performance targets or other "sticks".

    4/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • Generally very well, although there did seem to be some lack of communication from the graduate recruitment team, for example about the purpose and treatment of a maths and literacy test.

    4/5

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • Very well. They were working to tight deadlines, with a heavy workload, and took time to explain principles and to discuss work in more genreal terms, not just in relation to the secific tasks I was given.

    5/5

  • 10. What were the perks on your work placement?
  • Sports and Social Club

    4/5

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • It is hard to know for sure, but they seem to been happy toconsider me for future employment, though much depends on my subsequent study.

    4/5

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • The office organised some events which I was invited to attend, where I had the opportunity to meet and talk to other employees. No other placement students were in my office.

    4/5

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • I commuted from my home, so it was fine, bar the travel.

    3/5

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • 3/5

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • 4/5
