The Role
It was really good - a good group of people who gave me responsibility and let me get involved in a lot of different parts of the business.
They were all friendly and included me in all aspects of work.
The director of the development department was very helpful and approachable.
I spent time reading when I didn't have specific tasks to do - they're very busy so I recommend asking when you feel at a bit of a lose end and they always find something for you to do, or take you out on a visit.
I was completing competition schedules and comparables tables in my first week - I had never donea nything property related before so didn't even know what these were but someone always sat down and explained it from start to finish, then I had full responsibility, and had to complete these tasks on my own.
The skills I learnt there are invaluable.
The Company
Really nice and friendly people. People were keen to help and assist whenever necessary.
I learnt a lot and felt like a valued member of the team. At the end of the internship I had an appraisal by the director of the department. We went through my strengths and weaknesses, and he discusses areas for improvement, etc.
I wasn't 'trained', but the team taught me along the way and made sure I understood what was happening. Before I attended any meetings, someone explained exactly what was going on and afterwards I was given time to ask questions about what had happened to clarify anything I didn't understand at the time.
Company Parties/Events
Would love to gain employment with Savills at some point in the future
The Culture
I was the only intern at the Cambridge office as it is fairly small, in the London offices there are lots of interns at any one time.
Not too expensive at all - I didn't live there but lunch, etc. is reasonable.
There's a lot going on, and the office is opposite a pub.
Yes - there are sporting activities on and people in the department are involved in these. It would be easy enough to go along if you wanted to join in.
