About You
An invaluable insight into life at a law firm, and the type of work available was very varied and interesting.
Taylor Wessing deserves its reputation as one of the friendliest city law firms; everyone, from partner to trainee, is always happy to chat at any time.
You're assigned a supervisor who is responsible for you throughout each week, and at the end of the both weeks you have an appraisal session, in which they tell you how you performed at what you could work on next time.
Being able to witness how law is dissected and applied to real scenarios is a very valuable experience.
The Company
Very well structured, with short presentations throughout from each department about the sort of work they do, which is a great chance to experience the areas of the firm you wouldn't otherwise see.
TW also organise regular social events, both with partners and associates, but also just with the trainees. Both are a great way to find out about life at the firm, as well as enjoy yourself.
Yes, they were clearly very interested in each vac schemer who joined, and offered numerous chances to gain feedback along the way.
You sit in an office with either a trainee, associate or partner depending on what is available, and this alone is a great chance to see the day to day work of a lawyer. Regular social events with trainees also give a great insight into the sort of work you might be doing.
Clearly TW has a friendly and open culture which they pride themselves on, and there is really no other way to judge the character or culture of any firm without such an experience.
Everything Else
£250 a week, as well as some social events, meals, drinks etc all paid for.
Yes, there were official social events, but the open and friendly culture of the firm also provides opportunities to meet people on a less formal basis.
Very enjoyable and a good variety too. A particular highlight was a visit to The Comedy Store near Leicester Square.
Seem to be various sports teams, pro-bono work etc to get involved with.
Yes. As previously mentioned, I cannot imagine having to make a choice about a firm without such an insight.
