About You
The range of work, together with the practice presentations, trainee socials and partner lunch, provide an in depth insight into what working at Pinsent Masons is like.
My trainee buddy and my supervisor were always extremely grateful for my help and always offered consistent feedback.
My trainee buddy was always on hand to deal with any questions I had and was more than happy to help. I felt I could go to her if I didn't understand something. There was also no pressure put on me which I believe helped me perform to my best.
Whilst at the firm I have undertaken writing, drafting and research tasks. This has helped me develop these skills.
The Company
A few weeks before the placement started we were all emailed an itinerary, which detailed the events and assessments that would be taking place during the placement. We also received induction emails from our trainee buddy.
Really friendly.
There is only so much you can do on a two week placement, but my trainee buddy's feedback was always aimed at helping me develop my skills further.
Being paired up with a trainee allows you to experience first hand the kind of work trainees have to do on a frequent basis.
You get to meet so many different people from all departments, ranging from partners, trainees, PA's and paralegals. Being sat with one team also helps you see how everyone interacts and gets on.
I already knew I wanted to be a commercial lawyer and this placement only confirmed this more.
Everything Else
As a law student in such a competitive market work experience is a necessity, so not only was it great to get a placement at Pinsent Masons but also to be paid for our contributions during our time here.
Trainee socials, trainee lunches, partner lunch, team lunch, Friday drinks.
The trainees really went out of their way to make sure the social evenings were fun and varied. On the first Tuesday we went out for food and bowling and on the second Thursday we went to a comedy club. It's such a good way to get to know the trainees and your fellow vac schemers outside of the office.
We had a Corporate Social Responsibility presentation where we found out about some of the initiatives the firm takes part in. There were no sporting events going on during our placement.
You get out what you put in. If you are prepared to put 100% into this placement then you will get 100% back.
