    About You

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy the insight?
  • It was definitely beneficial, both in regards to learning more about the firm - PwC and its offerings, but more importantly learning about your personal attributes. It was relatively intense though.

    5/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued during your time at the company or firm?
  • Felt as part of the organisation for those three days, definite credit to the organisers and the effort that was put into the organisation of such an academy.

    4/5

  • 3. How much guidance/support did you receive during the insight?
  • Continued support from the four staff regarding the activities. We received detailed instructions prior to each individual task - whether assessed or not assessed.

    5/5

  • 4. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and information you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • Developed group skills and communications skills from the range of tasks. The information from PwC will be invaluable regarding future opportunities with the firm.

    5/5

    The Company

  • 5. How well structured was the insight?
  • Very well-structured. Followed a 'regimental' timetable and the majority, if not all of the events ran according to the scheduled programme. There were individual tasks and group activities throughout the 3 days, but we had sufficient time-off between tasks.

    5/5

  • 6. How was the general atmosphere during your insight?
  • The students seemed to be enthusiastic throughout, and the staff tried to make even the timed tests as painless as possible. The quiz and the networking events during the 3 days were the highlights.

    4/5

  • 7. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • We met a wide range of employees in order to absorb some of their knowledge, including a dinners with partners who gave us an insight into what working for the company actually was like. They also held a TeachFirst session.

    5/5

  • 8. To what extent did the insight help you to understand what it would be like to have a full time role with the company or firm?
  • The academy took the format of an extended assessment centre, so may be difficult to grasp the day to day activities of the staff. However they did provide information on the career path of a graduate.

    4/5

  • 9. How much did the insight help you in understanding the company culture?
  • Vastly improved my perceptions of the firm. They really do invest in building your skills, etc and emphasised the togetherness of the employees.

    5/5

  • 10. How valuable was the content in helping you to decide on your future career path?
  • There were exercises relating to real life scenarios and this helped me confirm that financial advisory was an option for me. However the lack of actuarial based activities was disappointing but was expected (as these are not based in Belfast).

    4/5

    Everything Else

  • 11. Were you paid or reimbursed adequately for this experience?
  • Willing to reimburse expenses up to the value of £150. They also paid all of the bills regarding the hotels, food and parking!

  • 12. Were there opportunities for networking and meeting other employees of the company or firm?
  • We had numerous networking events with a wide range of staff and also one night we had dinner with partners. Could not have done much more regarding this area.

    5/5

  • 13. How were the networking/ social event opportunities?
  • There were numerous opportunities to unwind and have drinks with staff or fellow students. They even organised a fun quiz night on the first night!

    5/5

  • 14. Did you find out about activities that employees can get involved in outside of work?
  • This was relatively limited, although I think they mentioned various charity days that the employees could get involved in.

    3/5

  • 15. Would you recommend this insight to a friend?
  • One of the programs that I've been on! They really do seem to invest in the students - both financially and in terms of time. This proved very beneficial to me personally regarding identifying skills especially.
